Process Description of Oxygen Production Plant

STEP 1- The process in a DCPL Oxygen Nitrogen plant is to produce oxygen and nitrogen from the air and this is known as liquefaction and fractional distillation of air inside the air separation unit.

STEP 2- Compressed & purified air is expanded and liquefied in this process of expansion and cooling in an expansion engine and through expansion valves at low cryogenic temperatures.

STEP 3- The expanded and cooled air from expansion engine and expansion valves enters the lower part of the distillation column in partial liquid form.

STEP 4- The oxygen and nitrogen have different boiling points of -183oC and -195oC respectively. Since nitrogen is more volatile, it is drawn out of the distillation column in vapor form and oxygen is collected in a condenser. The Liquid Oxygen is Compressed by Liquid Oxygen Pump & passed through Heat Exchangers, Gasified and finally filled at 150 Kg/Cm² of pressure to the Cylinders / bottles.
